Carton Brewing’s HopPun was a very well-balanced hoppy pale ale. It poured with a thick head, which quickly dissipated sitting over an orange amber colored body. It’s aroma wasn’t readily abundant, but I picked up hoppy, piney scents along with faint citrus notes. The flavors packed quite a punch. Largely, there were juicy hop flavors, some citrus pith, and bready sweet malt. The flavors worked well together, in their right dosages, and were a pleasant surprise for the diminished nose. It had a medium body and carbonation. Quite a refreshing beer with a beautiful composition, definitely appreciated after a hard day of work.
